All Art Is, Is Rhythm

You will soon be receiving an exam paper...

Following Carol's well executed film, briefly introducing the theme of 'Rhythms & Cycles', I have kindly put together a post making links to valuable, if not useful links and resources for your understanding on the topic. Please feel free to use these and link these resources (in your blog or folder), but make sure to cite these references to avoid plagiarism etc.

Take into account also, that this session was conducted to draw your attention to the diverse and interweaving concerns and contexts that occur in the subject of Art & Design (e.g. influence of popular music - architectural space: although we would not immediately make any connection, Jim Lambie's work refers to both).

Best,
Daniel.

Who gets to call it Art?

Consider two very different ideas:

"All art is a kind of confession, more or less oblique. All artists, if they are to survive, are forced, at last, to tell the whole story; to vomit the anguish up." - James Baldwin

"Art is what you can get away with." - Andy Warhol

Supporting Studies...Before You Blog

For Unit 3 you will need a supporting studies folder. This folder should contain evidence of your depth and breadth of investigation in to your chosen subject.

Evidence of your research should include:

First hand visits evidence (to work that relates to your Personal Study)
Research Sheets
Photocopied articles from books and magazines (annotated)
Short essays

When you post on your blog you need to be evaluative - for example about something you have read or seen
